If you want to save time on future installations or avoid reconfiguring your HMA settings after a factory reset or a clean ROM flash, using the HMA Backup & Restore feature is your best option. Follow this guide to back up and restore your configurations easily and efficiently.
Why Back Up Your HMA Configurations?
Backupping HMA (Hide My App List) configurations ensures you can quickly regain all your personalized settings when flashing new ROMs or performing factory resets, eliminating the hassle and time-consuming reconfiguration processes manually.
How to Back Up Your HMA Configuration
Follow these steps to create a backup of your HMA settings:
Access the Backup Option
Open the main HMA screen. If necessary, scroll down (depending on ad placement) to locate the Backup button. Tap on it to begin.Choose a Save Location
Select the directory where you want to save the backup file. The file will be automatically named HMA_Config.json. Once you’ve selected the location, tap Save.Secure Your Backup File
For added safety, copy the HMA_Config.json file to a secure location off your device, such as cloud storage or a personal computer.

Restoring Your HMA Configuration
Restoring your configuration is just as simple. Here’s how you can do it:
Prepare Your Backup File
If needed, copy the HMA_Config.json file back to your device.Run Through Initial Setup
Complete the basic HMA setup as you would after installation. Stop when you reach the main HMA window at the Configure HMA stage.Access the Restore Option
Scroll down the main HMA screen (if necessary due to ad placement) and tap Restore.Select the Backup File
Locate the HMA_Config.json file you previously saved and select it. Tap Restore to import your settings.
Additional Steps for Blacklist Mode
If you use Blacklist Mode and have renamed the Magisk Manager app, you will need to reconfigure the blacklist after restoring your HMA settings:
Manage the Root Blacklist Template
- Open the main HMA screen and tap Manage Template.
- Select the root template.
- Tap Edit List next to X Apps Invisible.
Add the Renamed Magisk Manager App
Scroll through the app list to find the renamed Magisk Manager app. Select it to include it in the root blacklist template.Save Your Changes
Navigate back to the main HMA screen using the back arrow or swipe gestures.Restart Your Device
Close the HMA app and reboot your device to activate the restored configuration.
